small problem: title to truck?
ok my truck is paid for all i need is the replacement title. I was referred to DMVNOW.COM.I wrote out a $5 check and sent my info out to the Virginia DMV a month ago!! my license plate tags say Jan 08 and will be due Feb!! I tried dealing with Texas DMV but turned me around cause i bought vehicle in Va. All I'm doing is playing the waiting and hope it comes in the mail soon. Anybody got anything? i apologize for length of problem/question.
5 dollars is what they asked for the replacement title. i'd be happy to finally get some Tx plates since i've the Va ones for so long.

Each state has their own way of dealing with titles and title issues. The majority will put the lender down as legal owner, the buyer as registered owner, and the title is held by the buyer. Once it's paid for, the lender gives a release of debt and the buyer takes the title and the release and a new title is issued.
In the few states where the title is held by the lender, they, not the DMV have the title and will mail it do you once your final payment clears the bank.
You have complicated things apparently by moving to Texas and not changing your title to a TX title.
But start with the lender and ask who has the title.
And by the way, you don't need the title to pay for the tags, just the renewal notice or even an old registration form, and proof of insurance. Also if your tags say January of 08 they are not due in February, they are expired the end of January and overdue in February.
