What is the difference between first edition and first state?
I'm trying to find a first edition first printing of a book for my mom's birthday and I keep coming across things that say first state. What does that have to do with anything? Please help me understand. I wikipedia-ed it but didn't get anything that helped. Thanks.
Just googled it and it looks like 'first state' is just a company that sells first editions of modern books.
