What is the best way to transfer a decorated cake?
I do a Rubix cube cake for a birthday fabulous friends this weekend. What is the best way to transfer a decorated cake decorated in your area on the display? The best thing is ice on the cake cooling tray so the excess cherry drops or away on a plate or a board? I do not have a good decorative shelf turning (yet!). I'm ok with little decoration, but I need a few tricks of the trade when it comes to the transfer.
There is much easier to decorate your cake on the display, then it will move too. My method for maintaining a stand cake icing is free to push pieces waxed paper or parchment (or aluminum or plain paper) beneath the edges of the cake, covering the areas you want to be free of ice. Decorate from there, and when you have finished remove the paper and you'll be left with a clean, professional looking display.
