Courious Kitten
Strange Mother Cat behavior?
I have a mother cat and her kittens in my kitchen in a lil cubby hole type cat house. I left a piece of sausage on the table forgetting about it and she got it of course..and i figured id let her eat it (it was small and she had already started eating it..no use takin it away now).
Any ways my question is..that she took it in front of her cubby hole on the floor to eat it..she didnt finnish it so there was still some left and i went in there to check and she was scratching the tile floor almost like she was tryin to cover it up I watched her do this for about 3 min tryin to figure out what she was doing..she seemed obsessive...why is she doing this?
By the way i eneded up throwing it away but I was just courious as to why she wanted it covered or what exactly she was doing.
In the wild, cats (pumas, wild cats, etc.) often bury leftover food to save it for later without attracting something else that would want to eat it. Domestic cats often try to bury things with strong odors to mask evidence of their presence.
