Country Scene
Will someone explain to me a scene from the movie "No country for Old men"?
There is one scene where the good guy is injured and these young guys wouldn't help him until he paid them and all they did was give him a jacket and beer. Then in the end the bad guy gats in a car wreck and these teenage boys don't help him until he pays them for a shirt and they fight over the money.
A very central theme to the movie is money and greed. It is, in fact, the reason for everything that happens in the movie.
Llewelyn (Brolin) comes across those men and asks for help, but the men are rude and, as you said, wouldn't help until he paid them. However, the boy who gives Anton (Bardem) his shirt actually was trying to help him before he gave him money and the boy was reluctant to accept it at first (the money). This is a sharp contrast to the men Llewelyn came in contact with, but I don't know the deeper implication at the moment. Perhaps an irony at the "luck" of the villain versus the luck of the hero. And I do wonder if the different ages of the boys versus the men was important.
