Church Plate
Why are church offerings are on a open plate & not in a closed pail like the Salvation Army?
Is it a way to make people feel guilty if they see that the person seated next to him/her offered a certain amount of dollars?
It has been proven that people will give more if someone is looking. So yes to your latter question. This was recently on 20/20--
It is a shame to me that churches resort to manipulation for monetary reasons than trusting in God to provide the needs as instructed in the Bible. Also it is a shame that these same people care more about what others think of their 'gift' than the One who sees the heart.
